Foster Funds Impact Stories

Meet Andy

Andy (3) entered care at 10 months old due to severe neglect. Like many 3-year-old boys, Andy loves playing with cars, however, because of his autism it is often difficult to find toys that interest him. When his caregiver noticed his fascination with cars, Promises2Kids funded Andy’s request for his very own toy car!

Meet Abby

Abby (7) entered foster care when she was three years old due to severe medical neglect and has lived in many different homes, separated from her siblings.  Abby loves animals and trying new experiences, and through the Something Special Fund, her request to attend the horseback riding camp was funded.

Meet Hazel

Hazel (16) entered care earlier this year when her biological mother could no longer take care of her. She was severely verbally abused and had to be removed. She is naturally introverted, and with all the recent changes in her life, she was not looking forward to attending a new school. To cheer Hazel up, her caregiver reached out to Promises2Kids, and through the Something Special Fund, LEGOLAND tickets were funded.

Meet Maggie

Being at a new home, Maggie had to move schools, where the only person she knew was her foster sibling. Initially, she was nervous about being in a new environment and having to make new friends. To make the transition easier, she decided to get involved in color guard...

Meet Bianca

Bianca (7) was 5 years old when she entered care due to neglect, physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, and witnessing domestic violence between her biological parents. Since arriving at the A.B and Jessie Polinsky Children’s Center, Bianca has lived in 4 different homes, each time attending a new school, in just the past two years.

Meet Ethan

Ethan (3) was only three months old when he was placed into foster care due to neglect and living in an unsafe environment. He has since been with a caregiver who is dedicated to providing him with the childhood he deserves. His caregiver reached out to get him his first bike.

Meet Alan

Alan (8 months old) entered care the day he was born. He was removed from his biological mother due to prenatal drug exposure. His caregiver wanted to enroll him in baby sign language classes so he could be given the gift of language before he could speak.

Meet Jeremiah

Eight-year-old Jeremiah entered care at age 4. He was removed from his biological parents due to physical abuse and domestic violence and currently lives with a foster family.

Meet Amaia

For years she dreamed of playing on a competitive soccer team, however, it was difficult to find the resources to make that dream come true.

Meet Zuri

Zuri (8) arrived at the A.B. and Jessie Polinsky Children’s Center at age 3 due to neglect and abuse and was eventually placed with a caregiver.

Meet Kiana

Kiana (2) entered care when she was only four days old. She was removed from her home when drug abuse and neglect from her parents made it unsafe for her to remain there.

Meet Nadia

Nadia entered care when she was 9 years old due to severe neglect. She is now 17 years old, and like many teenage girls, she likes to go shopping and buy new clothes. Instead of asking for new clothes, or the newest gadget, Nadia requested items to better prepare for her future.
