Meet Zuri

Zuri (8) arrived at the A.B. and Jessie Polinsky Children’s Center at age 3 due to neglect and abuse and was eventually placed with a caregiver.

Shortly after, Zuri was enrolled in dance classes, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She excelled, going from one dance class to six! Her schedule was jam-packed with gymnastics, ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, and acro classes. Zuri was thrilled when she was invited to join the studio’s junior dance team. However, the fees for extra lessons and costumes were beyond her caregiver’s resources.

They reached out to Promises2Kids and through the Something Special Fund, all of Zuri’s costumes and fees were covered, allowing her to participate on the team. When she found out her request was granted, Zuri was beaming and skipped into dance class that afternoon.

As a result, she is coming out of her shell more and more each day. Dance is helping her confidence and providing her with an opportunity to socialize with like-minded peers. Zuri continues to improve and have fun at the same time.

Thanks to your support, foster children like Zuri can have the opportunity to explore their interests and follow their dreams!
