60 Guardian Scholars and their families, along with volunteers, mentors, and Promises2Kids staff enjoyed a fun outing on the beach at the Mission Bay Yacht Club. This is their second year hosting Guardian Scholars, but for many years, they have held similar events for Camp Connect.

This event is looked forward to each year and provides Guardian Scholars with the opportunity to have a fun beach day, enjoy the sun with their children, and bond with other Guardian Scholars and Promises2Kids staff. Attendees were entertained with a waterslide, boat rides on the bay, kayaking, paddleboarding, a barbecue lunch, and ice cream.

43 Camp Connect youth recently spent a day making special memories together at the Hearts & Hooves petting zoo in Ramona, CA.

The day began at the Promises2Kids office, where youth greeted their siblings with excitement and hugs, followed by a bus ride full of laughter, games, and sing-along songs.

When they arrived, siblings rushed toward two big waterslides and took turns splashing into the pools at the end of the slides. After a full BBQ lunch, youth enjoyed walking ponies, practicing their lasso skills, decorating horseshoes, and petting goats, emus, chickens, and pigs.

Many took the opportunity to lead ponies through an obstacle course, guiding the pony up and over, around and about. At the end of the day, siblings rode the bus home looking forward to the next Camp Connect outing!

Men’s and Women’s Leadership Group coaches gathered with Promises2Kids staff to discuss goals and strategy, and how best to guide and mentor students for the coming year at a dinner hosted at the home of Mark & Heather Wills. 

The leadership group is one of several specialty groups available to Guardian Scholars. In a series of regular meetings throughout the school year, students are connected with coaches who are leaders in our community for the opportunity to interact with professionals who offer advice, guidance, and support as they grow from college students to young professionals.
