Guardian Scholar parents, along with their significant others, kids gathered to learn and play at the YMCA for the first Guardian Scholars Parenting Group of the year!
The group’s goal is to create a safe space for former foster youth to learn about healthy parenting practices and how they can cultivate stable bonds with their children.
Thanks to the childcare provided by our amazing volunteers, parents were able to spend some time interacting with like-minded parents.
The group helps parents share their ideas, successes, and struggles with parenting. There was a short discussion on different parenting styles and bonding over common experiences.
Commenting on the community feeling of the group, one parent remarked that her daughter “has never played so much when in a crowd of people, not even when we are with family”.
This group wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of our community and the help of our volunteers. If you are interested in getting involved, visit our volunteer page by clicking the button to the left.
