By age four, Evie had already experienced what it was like living in a toxic environment with constant arguing and suffering from severe neglect. Evie’s mother would leave her and her siblings for days at a time to fend for themselves. Many days, Evie would go hungry, having very little to eat. That’s why she entered foster care.

Throughout the years, she suffered from emotional, mental, and physical abuse. Evie was diagnosed with depression and admitted to the psychiatric hospital on multiple occasions. She felt hopeless, insecure, angry, and alone. The thought of ever feeling stable seemed far from reach.
