The A.B. and Jessie Polinsky Children’s Center
Meet Alicia
Alicia was removed from her parents at 3 years old as a result of domestic violence, substance abuse, and neglect. When she arrived at The A. B. and Jessie Polinsky Children’s Center, she was evaluated by KidSTART services for concerns about her behaviors and social skills. She was placed with a caregiver shortly after who shared concern that Alicia’s exposure to trauma was continuing to impact her development.
Alicia was assigned a Care Coordinator who connected her to the services she needed. She joined a group program that provided speech, occupational, and behavior therapies to help her socialize with her peers. She was also enrolled in school-provided counseling to help her with the transition to preschool.
Over time, Alicia showed significant gains in her development thanks to these services. Alicia’s Care Coordinator continues to support Alicia with the resources she needs.
Thank you for supporting Promises2Kids and making success stories like this possible.
