San Diego Foster Youth Current Events

July 22, 2025

Congratulations Guardian Scholars Class of 2025!

This Spring, 46 of our program participants graduated from higher education institutions or vocational training programs as diverse as UCSD, SDSU, Humboldt State, in fields ranging from cosmetology, dentistry, and culinary arts to sociology, social work, and liberal arts. We also celebrate 20 students graduating from High School.

Nationally, less than 10% of foster youth will graduate from college. We are proud of each graduate for defying that narrative and creating their own future.

We’re grateful to all our supporters, volunteers, mentors, and partners who all played their roles in these accomplishments. We are honored to be a part of each of their journeys, and we invite you to celebrate with us!

Mentoring: A Gameplan for Success!

Mentors matter and inspire greatness in us all.

Whether teaching the secret of a four-seam fastball or simply offering experience and insight to someone in need, mentors make huge impacts every day.

Help us provide mentoring, guidance, support, and inspiration to the over 2,000 foster children in San Diego.

Parenting Group Ends the Year with a Healthy Evening at Olivewood Gardens

Guardian Scholars Parenting Group brought their year to a close with a wholesome, healthy, and enriching evening at Olivewood Gardens with Chef Angels.

From picking fresh produce in the garden to hands-on learning in the kitchen with the ever-wonderful Chef Lena, it was a wonderful way to end the year. Hearts were also nourished reflecting on the bonds they’ve created together and the strides they’ve made in their home lives.

Guardian Scholars Parenting Group is a community of former foster youth beginning their own families. Parents share their ideas, successes, and challenges with parenting. There are short discussions on different parenting styles and bonding over common experiences.

Thank you to @olivewoodgardens@chefangelssd for helping us build strong and healthy families!

Brunch & Learn Shares the Many Opportunities to Get Involved

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Mentor and Volunteer Brunch & Learn! Hosted by the always wonderful and accommodating @sisterspizzasd, the brunch was an inspiring event filled with delicious food and new connections.
