Authority Magazine Interviews Guardian Scholar Zane
Guardian Scholar Zane Trubick was interviewed by Authority Magazine about reinventing himself in the next phase of his life and how Promises2Kids is helping him pave his own way for success.
Zane speaks about the instability and abuse that lead him to foster care and how, with hard work and determination, he excelled as a student. He is now a Guardian Scholar with Promises2Kids and is continuing his studies at the University of San Diego pursuing a degree in electrical engineering.
Through Guardian Scholars, Zane receives support from his mentor, coach, and coordinator to help make his dreams a reality.
Siblings Reunited at Petco Park
Sara (15) and Mario (18) entered care in 2015 after a situation of abuse and neglect made it unsafe for them at home. They have lived apart ever since and joined Camp Connect in 2016 for the opportunity to reunite on a regular basis. They have an older brother, Luis, who is not in the program.
On a recent Camp Connect outing to a Padres’ game, they both had extra-wide smiles. Not only were they going to enjoy a day of baseball, but they were excited to be able to meet with their brother who was working at Petco Park.
While enjoying each other’s company they, connected with Luis to catch up over nachos and churros. Mario was filled with pride over the number of extra treats and goodies his brother got for him. They were all grateful to have the opportunity to spend time with each other and create lasting memories together.
