Narde-Sinopoli Children’s Cottage Dedication at A.B. and Jessie Polinsky Children’s Center

A momentous occasion was recently celebrated at the A.B. and Jessie Polinsky Children’s Center for the first time in over 10 years. A children’s cottage dedication was held, acknowledging the support of Debbie Sinopoli and her late wife, Shari Narde-Sinopoli, and their commitment to creating a brighter future for foster children in the San Diego community.

The Sinopoli family has always been adamant in their support of children’s causes, and it was the pursuit of those causes that led them to Promises2Kids and the A.B. and Jessie Polinsky Center. Debbie and Shari have been long-time donors and upon Shari’s passing last year, Debbie made a generous gift in Shari’s memory. She wanted to do something monumental that would impact the lives of abused and neglected children in need. The Narde-Sinopoli cottage was dedicated on April 8, 2022.

We are grateful for Debbie’s dedication to our mission, and her generosity to help provide a safe and loving environment where children are out of harm’s way.

73 Youth Visit Disneyland in All-Day Camp Connect Adventure

Camp Connect recently visited “the happiest place on earth” – Disneyland.

The trip spanned the entire day and both Disney parks, where youth rode famous rides such as Star Tours and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. The highlight, however, was the polaroid cameras distributed to each group. Siblings were eager to take pictures together so they would have a souvenir of the time they shared with their brothers or sisters.

This event was made possible through the Arbonne Charitable Foundation.

Guardian Scholar, Aleena, was recently honored by Soroptimist International of San Diego with their Live Your Dream award. Each year, the organization distributes awards to exceptional individuals who have overcome traumatic obstacles like poverty, violence, and addiction and acknowledges their outstanding achievements.

Aleena will receive a cash award for costs associated with books, childcare, tuition, and transportation as she strives to create a better future for herself and her family.

Congratulations to Aleena! You are a true inspiration and we are proud to have you in our Promises2Kids family!

First-Generation College Student Follows Her Dreams!

Karla entered foster care at 12 when her parents could no longer care for her diabetes. She moved frequently, living in 6 different homes, and attending 6 schools.

Now, she’s a first-generation student on her way to becoming a pediatric physician’s assistant.

Guardian Scholars means the world to her pursuit of a brighter future. Without her mentor, she might have stumbled at one of the many roadblocks. Additionally, her coach through our Women’s Leadership Network gives her the strength and motivation to excel in a
male-dominated STEM field.

Guardian Scholars helps nearly 300 former foster youth like Karla every year. Your support makes that possible.

April Care Packages Assembled by TVIA

This past weekend, Promises2Kids brought together an intimate group of Partners who have generously sponsored a Guardian Scholar for the academic year.  These sponsors help provide the resources for the wrap-around services that contribute to an 85% graduation rate among the foster youth that Promises2Kids support.  Thank you to all our Partners!
