Volunteering is a great way to meet new friends, give back to your community and learn a new skill!
Volunteer at Promises2Kids!
Promises2Kids depends on volunteers to help plan special fundraising events, assist with office administrative projects, participate in community fairs, and assist with every detail and aspect of our popular Gift Drives. Volunteers play a vital role in our work to break the cycle of child abuse. Contact Stephanie Trolinger at 858-427-1106 or email at stef@promises2kids.org for additional information. To volunteer at Promises2Kids, please fill out a volunteer application.
Volunteer at Polinsky Children's Center!
Due to the overwhelming generosity of our community, Polinsky Children's Center's volunteer roster is almost full. Our volunteers are extremely dedicated!
Each year, approximately 5 volunteer positions become available. This typically occurs when current volunteers move, retire, or pursue other opportunities.
To volunteer at Polinsky:
- applicants must be 21 years of age
- pass a medical exam which includes a Tuberculosis skin test, Hepatitis and drug screening
- complete a criminal background check
- commit to a minimum of one-year of service
- attend several training sessions.
The application process can take up to 3 months. If you are interested, you must attend a mandatory orientation session to receive your application. There are two orientations scheduled per year. Our next volunteer orientation will take place Wednesday, March 28th 2012 from 6:00-7:00pm at the Polinsky Children's Center. Please click here to register for the orientation.
Become a Foster Youth Mentor!
Foster Youth Mentors are caring adults who can commit 2 hours per week to a foster youth for a minimum of 2 year. In addition to medical and criminal clearances, the Foster Youth Mentor Program requires a valid driver license, automobile insurance, an individual interview, and program training. For more information or an application, contact Ross Ramos at the County of San Diego at (619) 767-5211 or email Rostum.Ramos@sdcounty.ca.gov.
Volunteer at Camp Connect!
Through the Camp Connect Program, brothers and sisters separated in the foster care system have opportunities throughout the year to reconnect. The joy on the faces of the children when they see each other again is the true highlight of this program! Volunteers are needed throughout the year to help supervise children at these events. Past activities have included trips to fun locations such as Legoland and Knotts Berry Farm. The main event is a 4-day summer camp in the mountains of Julian (many volunteers are needed at camp). Contact Stephanie Trolinger at 858-427-1106 or stef@promises2kids.org for additional information.
